Location: Cesar Chavez Library - Reference Department 
Shift Times: 4 to 6 hours per week (Tuesdays through Saturdays) 
Minimum Age: 14 years and older  Register  
What to Bring: No supplies are needed. Just your willing heart to serve.  

Description:

The Cesar Chavez Library would love a Volunteer for the position of Computer Center Monitor in their Reference Department for a minimum of a 3-month commitment, minimum age - 14 years.

Qualifications would be:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Web Browsers.
  • Ability to communicate information about computer use to new, beginning & intermediate level users.
  • Ability to work independently given departmental policies and guidelines.
  • Integrity, punctuality and dependability is crucial.
  • Ability to work in cooperation with other computer center monitors.
  • Must be available for approximately 4-6 hours per week (Tuesdays through Saturdays).

Responsibilities would be:

  • Attend an orientation covering volunteer responsibilities and expectations.
  • Assist library customers with computer use in the computer center.
  • Give supervisors sufficient notice if unable to keep shift assignment or if coming in late.
  • Work on other tasks or special projects as assigned.

Requirements would be:

  • Should have an interest in libraries and computers.
  • Must fill out a City of Stockton VISTAS Volunteer Registration Form.
  • Should demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Web Browsers.
  • Applicants 18 and over must be fingerprinted and undergo a background check, in accordance with City of Stockton policies.

Dress Code would be casual but appropriate office clothing.
